Obituary
Moyalan Anthony Thomas
We honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable man, Moyalan Anthony Thomas, a loving husband, devoted father, guiding brother, and a pillar of strength to so many.
His journey began in the small town of Ollur, India in 1929 where he was raised with humble beginnings. He attended a local college and began working in a tile factory. He was also an avid soccer player. Little did he know then that his dedication and hard work would eventually take him across oceans to Burma, where he served as a tile expert before returning to India to build
the life he cherished.
In 1961, he married the love of his life, Celine—a beautiful partnership that stood the test of time. Together, they moved to Cuttack, Orissa, where they raised their family—two sons and a daughter—with unwavering love and discipline. He was a man of principle—a strict yet deeply caring father who wanted only the best for his children. He believed in hard work, perseverance, and the power of education. These values weren’t just passed down to his children, but extended to his siblings, nieces, and nephews, all of whom benefited from his wisdom, generosity, and quiet leadership. Whether it was a marriage, a funeral, or any important occasion, he naturally took the lead, anchoring the family through it all.
His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a committed member of the local church, dedicating himself to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and playing an instrumental role in establishing the Divine Mercy feast. His service extended far beyond religious duties—he was a true doer, helping others in their education, spiritual lives, and even with wedding arrangements.
He was the source of guidance for many, always willing to listen and help. After retiring from government service, he and Celine—who had served as a school principal—chose to return to their roots in Kerala. Later, they joined their children in the United
States in 2000. Yet, no matter where life took him, his love for his family remained his greatest legacy.
He found immense joy in his grandchildren:
● His eldest son, Bijoy, and his wonderful wife, Nirmala, blessed him with Asha, Anju, Christopher, Annie, and Tessie.
● His second son, Santosh, and his beautiful wife, Shiny, gave him Maria and Lisa.
● His beloved daughter, Seema, and her husband, Maijo, brought him the joy of Matthew, Tom, and John.
He loved spending time with them—playing games, especially his favorite, carrom board.
He was a man of few words but immense action—a quiet strength who led by example. His wisdom, integrity, and unwavering love will remain etched in our hearts forever. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely.
Today, as we say goodbye, we do not mourn a life lost—we celebrate a life so well lived. We take comfort in knowing his legacy will continue through each of us: in the lessons he taught, the kindness he showed, and the love he shared without condition.
Moyalan Anthony Thomas passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 7, 2025 at age 95 peacefully.
Rest in peace, dear father, with all our love. You have earned your place among the saints and angels.
