On Active Listening (Dr. Anna Sekhar)

1.
Listening actively is hearing
what the other person has got to say ;
Listening is also hearing
what the other person has not said;
Listening involves hearing with your heart
and soul when another speaks;
Listening is also an attunement
making it known that you care.
Time to think how many really care to listen!

2.
When you say you are listening,
Are you really meaning the word?
When you say you hear what the other says, do you really care to understand?
When you are the chosen one to share,
Do you value that respect given to you?
When people come and confide in you,
Do you listen or you judge the other?
When you are in that position of life,
Do you listen to respond or understand?

3.
Listening is an art, a skill that not all possess;
To listen is to show you care
and being kind; a trait people seldom hold;
Listening involves that maturity to hear
what is being said and all that is untold;
To listen is to think beyond yourself
and show you are altruistic;
Learning to listen should be that
First lesson of any mentor, a good leader
and most of all a good human.

4.
When you listen actively, you learn;
When you listen much, you hear more;
When you listen carefully, y
ou realise what the other's experiences are;
When you listen, you begin to expand
your mind to become open-minded;
When you listen, you master the art of
Talking less; you learn the value of silence!
As a leader when you listen,
Your empathy and compassion is
displayed effectively and efficiently.

5.
Listening actively is really listening,
Not pretending to listen
whilst doing something important to you.
Listening actively is being fully engrossed
in what the other person says rather than giving a partial ear.
Listening actively is when you hear
What is not said rather than just hearing
what is said; you learn to read
between the lines more than you think.
Listen actively because the other person
needs your time and is valuing you.

6.
When you listen actively
you hear the unheard;
When you hear the unheard
you know what they are going through;
When you know what they are going through,
you mould your actions to help them;
When you help the other,
the empathetic side in you comes out;
When you show empathy,
the god in you is revealed;
when the God in you exhibits itself,
you are revered as a human.
You then see heaven in earth and
a God inside you- the essence of Tatvamasi.

7.
The more you listen, the more you hear;
The more you hear, the more you know;
The more you know, the more you learn;
The more you learn, the more you can impart to others;
The more you impart to others, the more you contribute;
The more you contribute, the more satisfaction you get;
The more satisfied you are, the more happy your soul;
The happier your soul, that divinity exhibits;
The Godliness comes out to make you a revered individual.
