Finally, American workers can go back to earn a living. What a relief! When politicians take people for granted, people suffer. From an unbiased standpoint, I sympathize with these politicians who couldn't care less about the very people who put them in their position. Isn’t this a very selfish idea? To avoid a similar situation, as people, we have a responsibility to know how our government works. I hope the so-called politicians also take some interest in this topic. Although many of us don’t know the inner workings of the governmental machine, we know it can affect our day-to-day lives. The problem that happened this time was that the Democrats could not provide convincing evidence to justify the shutdown. Their main point was about healthcare. We all know that healthcare in this country can be very expensive. But, to make their case, they failed to identify who the people affected are. If they had provided statistics on who the recipients of the health care were, it would have been a convincing argument. But, they couldn’t do that because the latter part of the statistics will have a suspicious number of people who were here than before. In the absence of such crucial evidence, they had no chance of winning. If they had smart leadership, this shutdown would not have lasted this long. The party knows who was responsible for this disastrous saga. So it is time for this party to do some soul-searching and come up with a plan that will have sensible competitive values. This simply means re-engineering must be first on their agenda.
